Juun.J‘s Fall/Winter 2025 collection masterfully balances dramatic silhouettes with intimate craftsmanship, proving that innovation thrives where opposites collide. Creative director Jung Wook-jun’s latest work, titled “Coveruncover,” explores the tension between exaggerated proportions and precise tailoring, delivering a lineup that feels both rebellious and refined.
At the heart of the collection is a fascination with duality. Outerwear dominates, with parkas, utility jackets and denim blousons inflated to balloon-like dimensions, creating striking shapes that demand attention. These voluminous pieces contrast sharply with the streamlined layers underneath – pencil skirts, skinny pants and slim double-breasted suits that cling to the body. Jung described the waist as a “boundary” that separates these opposing forces, a concept reinforced by belts that cinch glossy leather coats to create a peplum effect. The result? Outer layers that flirt with extravagance while inner garments whisper sophistication.
Material contrasts further elevate the theme. Shiny leather brushes up against shaggy non-animal fur, while thick rib knits sit next to stiff cotton twill. Even suiting gets a twist, with houndstooth woven into pinstripes. These pairings challenge expectations, transforming uniforms-military, workwear, classic suits-into vehicles for emotional expression.
Denim plays a prominent role, with oversized jeans artfully slouched to reveal layered slim fits underneath. This “melting” effect, as Jung calls it, reflects the collection’s broader narrative: garments that feel fluid, almost liquid, as they drape and shift. Tailoring remains a cornerstone, evident in sharp lapels and impeccably constructed suits that ground the collection’s bolder gestures.
What sets Fall/Winter 2025 apart is its sensitive approach to strength. Bulky outerwear isn’t just armor; it’s a canvas for texture and movement. Structured suits eschew rigidity in favor of subtle curves and soft finishes. Jung’s vision feels timely, responding to a cultural moment where confidence coexists with vulnerability.
