JW Anderson has unveiled its latest accessory, the Loafer bag, a creation that has already made a splash as the only accessory featured in the brand’s last two runway shows. This innovative piece, a personal favorite of Jonathan Anderson, reimagines the classic penny loafer as a sophisticated bag.
Inspired by traditional footwear, the Loafer bag deconstructs and reconstructs shoe details to create a unique design. The front features a hand-stitched whale tail penny keeper detail with box stitching, reminiscent of the shoe itself. The base mimics the sole of a loafer and the handle mimics the welt of the shoe, creating a seamless fusion of elements.
Made in Italy, the bag comes in two sizes: classic and large. The classic size comes in four colorways and two finishes derived from the original shoe – smooth calfskin in off-white, pecan and black, and a chocolate brown suede version. The Weekender Loafer bag is offered in black leather and chocolate suede to accommodate different style preferences. Both styles feature silver hardware with the JW Anderson logo embossed on the pulls for a touch of elegance.
The Loafer bag will be available from November 25th at JW Anderson Soho in London, JW Anderson in Milan, JW Anderson in Shibuya Parco, Tokyo and online at jwanderson.com. The Loafer Bag Classic is priced at £1,150, while the Loafer Bag Weekender is available for £1,890.
