Gap, the iconic American clothing brand, has collaborated with Los Angeles-based lifestyle brand Madhappy to create a limited-edition collection that seamlessly blends Gap’s timeless aesthetic with Madhappy’s fresh perspective.
The 41-piece Gap x Madhappy collaboration features a curated selection of women’s, men’s and children’s apparel inspired by Gap’s rich archive. From classic denim pieces to cozy sweatshirts emblazoned with the distinctive MAD Arch logo, the collection offers a perfect balance of nostalgia and contemporary style. Outerwear, hoodies and accessories complete the range, providing a comprehensive wardrobe for those looking to make a bold fashion statement.
Calvin Leung, Head of Creative at Gap, expressed his excitement for the collaboration, highlighting the natural alignment between the two brands’ values. “Madhappy is a brand that lives beyond their product by fostering a community of optimists,” said Leung, emphasizing the shared commitment to championing self-expression and individuality.
The campaign for the Gap x Madhappy collaboration pays homage to Gap’s iconic “Individuals of Style” campaign, featuring a diverse cast of trendsetters and influencers. The campaign celebrates the unique personalities and styles of these individuals, reinforcing the message of embracing one’s authentic self.
Behind the scenes, the design process for the collaboration was a labor of love. Madhappy co-founder Noah Raf revealed that the team immersed themselves in Gap’s archives in New York, focusing on fleece and down pieces from the 1990s. The resulting designs pay homage to the archival styles, graphics and washes, while incorporating a co-branded label that proudly proclaims “Gap with Madhappy“.
In a heartwarming gesture, Gap has pledged to make a donation to the Madhappy Foundation as part of the collaboration. The Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness and positively impacting the global mental health movement, emphasizing the importance of wellness and self-care in today’s fast-paced world.
The limited-edition Gap x Madhappy collection will be available August 2nd, with prices ranging from $34.95 USD to $158 USD.
