As a movie-lover, Undercover designer Jun Takahashi often finds inspiration in great works of cinema. After Akira Kurosawa’s Throne of Blood and anime franchise Evangelion, he turned toward the great master of Hollywood suspense: Alfred Hitchcock for his Fall/Winter 2022 collection unveiled in Tokyo.

Inspired by Hitchcock’s great classics, Undercover’s Fall/Winter 2022 range was a mix of nods to the undisputed legend of world cinema, in particular his masterpiece “Psycho”, and school theme.
The former played out through scenes from “Psycho” printed on patches sewn here and there or printed directly onto denim pieces, Hitchcock’s profile outline and the name of the movie “Psycho” embroidered on the front of the varsity jacket. There were also phrases like “I have a third eye but it is blind” written in blood red letters.
Jun Takahashi also played with the collegiate aesthetic, showing collegiate sweaters bearing various slogans including the one above, hunting-inspired cargo pants, pleated skirts worn with high boots and striped socks, as well as fleece-lined puffer jackets. He completed the offer with cable-knit sweaters in shocking pink or fluorescent yellow, giving classic pieces a fresh look.
Like his colleague Rei Kawakubo from Comme des Garçons Homme Plus, Jun Takahashi also collaborated with Nike on a collection of laceless sneakers.
