The core inspiration of the HOMME PLISSÉ ISSEY MIYAKE’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection revolved around the idea of the human body and the beauty and strength of its form.
Named “Human Ensemble”, the collection seeked to express a sense of diversity and universality in the clothing defined by the wearer’s personalities.
The collection included several ranges, each reflecting a specific facet of the human body: the BODY ARCH series made from 100% recycled polyester yarn is available in a range of colors inspired by natural skin tones; the OBLIQUE one, with its bold and diagonal lines across the pleats, emphasizes the oblique folds and a feeling of rigidness as opposed to the softness of the fabric. The BODY MOVEMENT series represents the curves and flexibility of the human body through a print made with paint and sand; the IN LAID KNIT uses a seamless mesh technology to reinforce the minimalist design and emphasize the sharpness of the silhouette and texture of the garment. The LENO STRIPE series showcases a new vertical striped pattern made with the traditional technique called karamiori (leno weave) while the STRETCH SHIRT series is remarkable with its “raglan” sleeves, making the garments easier to move in, and elastic fabric, smooth to the touch. And finally, the DECK’N COURT series of shoes, part of the brand’s collaboration with WAKOUWA, offers a new style of low-top sneakers in bright and mismatched colors.
