Hedi Slimane, Celine‘s Artistic and Image director, is known for his bold aesthetic choices. This season, for Fall/Winter 2024, he transports viewers to the heart of the Mojave Desert with a captivating 14-minute film presentation. Evoking a sense of melancholic grandeur, the collection unfolds against a backdrop of stark landscapes, punctuated by the haunting melodies of Hector Berlioz’s “Symphonie Fantastique.”
Set to the grand and romantic soundtrack of Hector Berlioz conducted by the legendary Leonard Bernstein, the film opens with a fleet of black helicopters descending into the desert, reminiscent of the iconic “Apocalypse Now” scene. As the helicopters deliver a Celine-branded jukebox to a desolate road, a procession of vintage 1960s Cadillacs follows, accompanied by an array of models in black, white and gray with touches of gold and silver.
Slimane’s return to tailoring is evident in the collection’s slim and cropped jackets, with shrunken sleeves that stop just above the wrist. The youthful yet sophisticated aesthetic is further accentuated by the presence of small white collars on shirts and thin or stringy ties, some of which are tied in a narrow bow.

Inspired by 19th-century Anglomania, the collection features a range of frock coats, three-button suits and hand-embroidered waistcoats in luxurious materials such as silk, cashmere and vicuna. While the film’s distant shots may not fully capture the intricate details, Slimane‘s reputation as one of the most influential menswear designers of the new millennium leaves no doubt about the collection’s exceptional craftsmanship.
True to his contrarian nature, Slimane surprises with unexpected elements such as flashes of metallic detail in the form of glittering gold or silver-studded coats. The dramatic sweep of a dark hooded cape covered in black paillettes adds a touch of romance and artistry, perfect for the bold and daring fashion enthusiast.
The Celine Men’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection will be available in stores from mid-July, offering fashion-forward individuals the opportunity to embrace Slimane’s vision of modern elegance and timeless style.
