Jun Takahashi’s Undercover Spring/Summer 2025 collection, presented at Dover Street Market Paris, reimagines the everyday. Presented alongside a vegan breakfast buffet, the womenswear line transforms everyday garments into unexpectedly seductive pieces. Gold zippers, leather laces and metal buckles adorn otherwise simple hoodies, tailored blazers and t-shirt dresses. These embellishments, reminiscent of the rebellious spirit of punk, add a touch of danger to classic silhouettes.
The collection showcased an innovative approach to adjustable garments. Fasteners on t-shirts, bombers and cardigans allowed for on-the-fly alterations, transforming from daytime practicality to evening glamour with a simple twist or tug. Lace collars and metal headpieces, previously seen in the menswear collection, reappeared alongside new accessories such as gauze chokers embroidered with “KOSMIK WITCH“.
In addition to the bondage-inspired pieces, the collection featured looks that incorporated the blurred, gradient artwork of Robert Bosisio. These pieces, created using a needle punch technique, echoed themes from the menswear line. The presentation concluded with a display of four dresses – pink, white, black and lemon prints – featuring ruffled necklines, strategic straps and elegant lacing. Worn by models wearing lace masks and metal garlands, these gowns embodied a captivating blend of beauty and austerity.
Takahashi’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection offers a fresh perspective on modern femininity with its blend of everyday wear and avant-garde details. The designer’s playful approach to adjustable silhouettes and unexpected embellishments creates a wardrobe that is both versatile and intriguing. The intimate presentation format, complete with the designer’s presence and a vegan breakfast, provided a uniquely engaging experience.
