Luxury beauty brand Lancôme has welcomed rising star Nico Parker as its youngest global ambassador. The 19-year-old British actress, known for her performances in ”Dumbo” and ”The Last of Us,” brings a fresh perspective to the iconic brand.
Parker’s appointment marks a significant shift in Lancôme’s strategy to connect with a younger audience while maintaining its timeless appeal. Françoise Lehmann, Lancôme’s International Brand President, was enthusiastic about the partnership, saying, “What we loved with Nico Parker is that she has both the freshness and charm of her age, yet already with a lot of maturity.”
The young actress’ talent has not gone unnoticed in the industry. Her recent accolades include the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Performance at the Sundance Film Festival for her role in “Suncoast.” In addition, Parker has been nominated for the 2024 BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding work in HBO’s ”The Last of Us.”
For Parker, joining Lancôme feels like a natural progression. Growing up, she watched her mother, acclaimed actress Thandiwe Newton, incorporate Lancôme products into her beauty routine. “The Lancôme mascara really was a pivotal thing in my mum’s makeup routine that was then passed down to me, and I’m sure will be passed through generations of my family,” Parker said.
The young actress’ connection to the brand runs deep, as she explained, “I was always aware, always conscious of the brand and their work and products. So many women that I deeply respect and admire are involved with the brand and are ambassadors or have been ambassadors.”
Lehmann emphasized Lancôme’s commitment to embracing different age groups, saying, “At Lancôme, we really want to address all age targets, from the very young ones.” The brand’s roster of ambassadors includes industry veterans such as Isabella Rossellini and Andi MacDowell, as well as younger talents such as Hoyeon Jung and Aya Nakamura.
Parker’s appointment is in keeping with Lancôme’s vision of celebrating women of exceptional potential. Lehmann noted, “We like women with strong, exceptional potential – rising starts that will very soon be megastars.”
As she steps into her new role, Parker expressed her commitment to embodying the brand’s values. “I hope to do my best to embody the values of the brand,” she said. “What’s so wonderful about beauty is that it’s constantly changing.”
Fans can look forward to seeing Nico Parker make her debut as Lancôme‘s global ambassador in the brand’s holiday campaign, set to launch in November.
