Moses Sumney, the critically acclaimed indie musician and actor, has been named ambassador for Rabanne‘s upcoming masculine fragrance, Million Gold Eau de Parfum Intense. Set to launch in August, the fragrance marks a new chapter in Rabanne’s iconic Million series, with Sumney bringing a fresh perspective to the brand’s representation of masculinity.
Known for his soulful, genre-bending music and uniquely personal style, Sumney has garnered praise from prestigious publications including The New York Times, NPR, Pitchfork, The Guardian and Rolling Stone. Sumney’s creative prowess extends beyond music, as he is set to star in the highly anticipated final installment of the iconic X-movie trilogy, “MaXXXine,” and has recently released a new EP.
Sumney’s association with Rabanne stems from his admiration for their iconic advertisements. “The ads are so iconic,” Sumney said. “I’ve had a list of things that I’ve wanted to do with my career – like a vision board – and Rabanne has been really high on that list for many years. So, getting to do this was weirdly a dream come true.”
Rabanne Vice President Jérôme Leloup praised Sumney’s contribution to the evolution of the brand, saying, “Moses Sumney is bringing a lot of modernity to the way we display Million, a slightly more fluid type of masculinity. And, of course, he’s an amazing dancer and a singer.”
Million Gold follows in the footsteps of Rabanne’s iconic 2008 fragrance, 1 Million, and features a gold ingot-shaped bottle adorned with the house’s signature XL link. Created by Givaudan perfumers Christophe Raynaud and Quentin Bisch, the fragrance features a blend of floral, sandalwood and mandarin notes that appeal to Sumney’s personal preferences. “I like things that are earthy,” he revealed. “I spend a lot of time in nature, in the forests.”
The fragrance debuted in the U.S., Brazil and Rabanne‘s direct-to-consumer network, followed by a German launch on August 5th. The global rollout is scheduled between August 15th and September 1st.
