Louis Garrel, the acclaimed French actor and director, has been named the latest brand ambassador for Dior Men, cementing his status as an icon of French elegance. The announcement follows Garrel’s appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, where he graced the red carpet in a stunning midnight blue Dior suit designed by the brand’s Artistic director of men’s collections, Kim Jones.
Garrel’s long career in the film industry, punctuated by numerous accolades, including the César Award for Best Original Screenplay for “The Innocent,” has established him as a prominent figure in French cinema. His breakthrough performance in Bernardo Bertolucci’s “The Dreamers” in 2003, alongside Michael Pitt and Eva Green, catapulted him to international recognition, and he has since starred in a wide range of roles, showcasing his versatility as an actor.
In a statement, Jones expressed his excitement at welcoming Garrel to the Dior family, saying, “He perfectly embodies the French elegance. We are extremely excited to welcome him in the house.” Garrel, in turn, praised the brand, describing it as “an absolute legend in the world of fashion” and highlighting its ability to “successfully live through different epochs, making it indispensable.”
Garrel’s connection to the fashion world goes beyond his new role at Dior. He is married to supermodel and actress Laetitia Casta, a regular presence at Dior fashion shows. In addition, Garrel has previously been the face of Valentino Uomo fragrance and directed a Valentino Donna campaign. He also appeared in Giorgio Armani’s Fall/Winter 2023 campaign, having previously appeared in Emporio Armani‘s Fall/Winter 2004 ads alongside his “The Dreamers” co-stars Michael Pitt and Eva Green.
