Hed Mayner’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection was a showcase of innovation and originality, with twists and turns that kept the audience engaged.
The designer took traditional silhouettes and reimagined them, creating new, form-fitting garments that were a perfect fit for the wearer. Standout pieces in the collection included the gray double-breasted jacket paired with a white, asymmetric oxford shirt, and the highly tailored black tuxedo and long checkered overcoat.
Mayner’s manipulation of volume, layering, and proportion resulted in garments that were both voluminous and classic in their aesthetic. He also used a variety of textures and fabrics, including bonded, washed, cut, pressed or otherwise destroyed textiles to give the clothes an aged look. Nylon-stocking fabric was also incorporated into hugging shirts, balaclavas, and leggings, adding an unexpected element to the collection.
The color palette for the Fall/Winter 2023 collection was a bit darker than previous seasons, including hues such as olive green, navy, and brown, which was a nod to the traditional British fabrics used. The collection was further elevated with the designer’s collaboration with Reebok, where he revisited the brand’s Classic Leather model and gave it a new shape, rounding out the collection with a mix of old and new.
