Danielle Guizio, the independent New York City-based designer, has once again teamed up with Puma for a second iteration of the iconic Speedcat sneaker. This latest collaboration sees the classic silhouette reimagined in a timeless black and white colorway.
Following the success of their first friends-and-family Speedcat Mesh release, which featured a fresh lime and cream colorway, Guizio and Puma have opted for a more understated approach this time around. The new Speedcat features a sleek, monochromatic design made from premium smooth leather that accentuates the shoe’s aerodynamic shape – a nod to its racing-inspired roots.
The sneaker’s stealthy black upper is complemented by a contrasting white Puma formstrip, adding a striking visual element to the otherwise minimalist design. A subtle “Guizio” tab on the upper serves as a discreet yet significant touch, commemorating the ongoing partnership between the designer and the iconic sportswear brand.
Puma first introduced the Speedcat in 1999, designed specifically for the high-octane world of Formula 1 racing. However, it wasn’t until the mid-2000s that the sneaker found its way into the fashion and sneaker culture scene. Recognizing its enduring appeal, Puma officially reintroduced the Speedcat in June 2024.
The latest Puma x Guizio Speedcat is set to release on November 9th, 2024 and will be available at select Puma retailers worldwide. For those in New York City, the sneaker will also be available at Guizio’s brand new flagship store located at 81 Greene Street.
