Golden Goose’s latest release, the True-Star sneaker, brings a retro running aesthetic into the present. Building on the brand’s signature worn-in look, the design nods to late 1960s athletic shoes while adding modern touches.
The Golden Goose True-Star features several distinctive design elements that set it apart from conventional luxury sneakers. Most notable is the square-effect toe cap, a departure from the traditional rounded designs found on comparable footwear. In addition, the sneaker features a convenient foldable heel tab and exposed zig-zag stitching along the back to suggest movement.
“Every step of this journey has shaped me, and I’m excited for what’s ahead,” said professional tennis player Jasmine Paolini, who fronts the launch campaign. Details like mismatched trekking-style laces with extended ends provide both visual interest and functional versatility. Inside, a soft leather lining ensures comfort for extended wear. True to Golden Goose tradition, the sole features the brand’s signature contrast between a pristine appearance at the toe and textured wear throughout the midsole and tread.
The collection launches in several distinct colorways. A unisex version in white nappa leather features a gold-plated star emblem next to a white toe cap. For those who prefer earthier tones, a tobacco brown suede option features a crisp white leather star. For the women’s collection, a pastel pink suede version features a silver star and dark gray leather heel detail. Each pair includes two additional sets of laces for customization.
