The Hermès Fall/Winter 2025 show was an event beyond the ordinary. Held at the Garde Republicaine, the setting itself was a prelude to the collection’s ethos. Before the first model appeared, attendants meticulously raked the runway, which was covered in a textured, earth-like material. This grounding in nature set the stage for a collection that seamlessly fused earthy elements with the brand’s signature luxury.

As the show began, models walked confidently to an intense soundtrack, their movements reflecting the strength and poise of the Hermès woman. Under the creative direction of Nadège Vanhee, the collection was a study in refined power.

Leather, a hallmark of Hermès, dominated the runway. Vanhee explored its versatility, presenting it in structured outerwear, fluid trousers and fitted jumpsuits. Black-on-black ensembles stood out, with quilted textures, shiny finishes and sharp tailoring creating a sleek, modern aesthetic. A quilted bomber jacket paired with a knit turtleneck and leather mini shorts epitomized effortless edge, while knee-high boots added a touch of rugged sophistication.

The color palette was both bold and nuanced. Deep brown leather pieces evoked warmth and timelessness, while belted high-waisted silhouettes offered tailored ease. Grey monochrome looks offered a softer take on power dressing, while vibrant greens brought a fresh perspective to leatherwear. Fitted trench coats, belted dresses and matching sets in this bold hue contrasted beautifully with the earthy runway. Taupe and cream looks paired with burgundy boots added a lighter, brighter dimension to the collection.

Accessories played an important role in completing the looks. Structured leather bags, worn as cross-bodies or handbags, complemented the simple ensembles. Tall leather boots in rich hues such as olive green and deep burgundy added strength and confidence to each outfit. The new teeny tiny Petit Sac, a tiny yet striking addition, was slung over the shoulders, adding a playful touch to the otherwise polished looks.

Backstage, Vanhee’s approach was refreshingly candid. Despite the collection’s heavy reliance on leather, she herself wore a Patagonia fleece, humorously calling it “the American Hermès.” Her inspiration, she revealed, was rooted in menswear and tailoring, with a focus on creating timeless classics.

The fast pace of the show reflected the modern woman’s life – confident, purposeful, and unencumbered by trivialities. As the show notes stated, “She has everything she needs.” This idea of a complete, worry-free wardrobe resonated throughout the collection. From quilted leather shorts to a shiny lambkin leather shirt and pants, each piece was designed to be a lasting investment.

Vanhee also redefined traditional concepts such as the twinset, with a cropped sleeveless cashmere top and matching long fingerless gloves. Denim paired with leather offered a structured yet casual option, while a Cyprus green dress with brogue-style leather panels added an unexpected twist.

The Hermès Fall/Winter 2025 collection was a testament to the brand’s enduring heritage of craftsmanship. As the models raced down the labyrinthine runway, their confidence underscored the collection’s central theme: luxury is not just about what you wear, but how you feel.
