Isabel Marant, a designer renowned for her effortlessly cool and chic clothing, recently marked the five-year anniversary of her men’s line. The idea to launch a men’s collection came to her when she noticed that many men were already wearing pieces from her Étoile women’s collection.
Since its launch, the men’s line has established its own identity while still remaining closely connected to the French cool-girl staples that Marant has become known for in the last three decades. Marant works in close collaboration with Kim Bekker, the artistic director for both her men’s and women’s collections, to establish a cohesive vision for the brand.
For the upcoming Fall/Winter 2023 season, Marant aimed to create a collection that was “easy, cozy, comfortable – and realistic“. She wants men to choose her clothes and to keep them from being forgotten in the back of the closet, so she challenged herself to reinterpret some classic wardrobe items. The collection combines elements of Parisian and underground styles, with pieces such as baggy cropped jeans, ample cargos, vinyl bombers and an abundance of color, including bright shades like pink, lemon yellow, sapphire blue, teal tie-dye stripes and bright orange plaid. Marant also reimagined traditional items such as plaid shirts and sleeveless vests, adding striking tones of blue and bright orange.
Marant’s men’s line continues to offer a fresh and modern take on traditional menswear staples, making them ideal for any man looking to incorporate a touch of French cool into his wardrobe. With her emphasis on comfort and wearability, it’s no surprise that the collection remains a favorite among both men and women.
