Zara A Coruña, Spain, has reopened its doors at the exact location where Amancio Ortega launched his fashion empire 50 years ago, following an extensive architectural transformation.
The redesigned 3,780-square-foot (351 m²) space on Calle Juan Flórez features two entrances. Zara‘s in-house architects have created an environment that respects Galician heritage through careful selection of materials – oak floors and regional granite add authenticity, while comfortable seating areas encourage customers to linger.
The Zacaffè concept, launched last year, offers customers a moment to pause with coffee served in custom cups designed by Ramdane Touhami. Maritime elements throughout the interior pay homage to A Coruña’s coastal character, with architectural nods to the city’s famous “galerías” – the glass-enclosed balconies that define local architecture.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Zara A Coruña is offering limited edition pieces. One of the highlights is a t-shirt bearing the names of 50 models from a new Steven Meisel film produced for the occasion. In addition to the t-shirt, a 100-piece collection is inspired by the film and features tuxedo tailoring, lace, satin and mesh. The palette remains black and white, with meticulously crafted dresses, leather pants, suits, shoes, and accessories.
A scroll-like installation traces the rise of Zara since 1975. An interactive screen shows the brand’s global reach, from that single location to more than 2,000 stores today and €28 billion euros in annual sales.
