Sportmax‘s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, presented against the backdrop of the Pinacoteca di Brera’s imposing Napoleon statue, was a study in contrasts. The Italian fashion house, known for its sophisticated and often minimalist approach, surprised attendees with a collection that balanced sharp tailoring with soft, sensual draping.
The show began with a series of flowing dresses that resembled luxurious linens draped around the body. These minimalist beginnings gave way to increasingly structured silhouettes, including impeccably tailored blazers, plunging V-neck tunic dresses and sharp trench coats with exaggerated shoulders. The collection showcased Sportmax’s mastery of construction and form.
Just as the audience settled into the clean lines of the collection, a playful use of embellishment emerged. A boxy top adorned with cascading crystal beads hinted at the ornamental flair to come. Harnesses and aprons encrusted with rhinestones added unexpected sparkle to shift dresses and caftans, while beaded fringes added delicate movement. Knitted frocks and separates were embellished with textured crystals, adding a tactile dimension to the collection.
This interplay of texture and embellishment extended to the fabrics themselves. Sportmax paired crisp tailoring with the ease of denim, offering cropped jeans and form-fitting bandeau tops. The contrast between these more casual pieces and the fluid evening wear, often in sheer fabrics, highlighted the collection’s exploration of duality.
