Area is entering a transformative era as Nicholas Aburn steps into the role of Creative director, succeeding co-founder and former Creative director Piotrek Panszczyk after his influential ten-year tenure.
Aburn’s appointment follows Panszczyk’s departure, which was confirmed in a joint statement praising his “vision and dedication“. Born in Maryland and educated at Central Saint Martins in London, Aburn brings experience from Tom Ford, Alexander Wang and Balenciaga Couture, where he served as Senior Designer. He will officially join the company in March, and will debut his first collection for the brand for the Spring/Summer 2026 season.
“New York has always inspired me with its mix of raw energy and glamour,” said Aburn. “Area truly embodies this spirit, and I am excited to bring the brand back to its roots.”
Panszczyk’s departure closes a pivotal chapter. Along with Beckett Fogg, whom he met at Parsons School of Design while pursuing a master’s degree in fashion design and society, he established Area as a sought-after label among celebrities and fashion enthusiasts.

Panszczyk, who was born in Poland and raised in Holland, has shaped Area into a label celebrated for its bold craftsmanship. His designs have always focused on exploring the evolution of beauty and femininity across time and cultures. It remains unclear what Panszczyk’s future plans are.
Beckett Fogg, CEO and co-founder of Area, praised Aburn’s potential to “amplify Area’s resonance” and propel the brand “into an exciting new era.”
