Lucie and Luke Meier have ended their influential chapter at Jil Sander, stepping down as Creative directors after eight remarkable years. The couple presented their final collection for Fall/Winter 2025 at Milan Fashion Week, marking the end of their tenure with an emotionally charged runway show where they received their final applause in these roles and flowers from OTB Chairman Renzo Rosso.
The Meiers and Jil Sander “have mutually decided that this collection would be the last of their collaboration,” according to a brief statement. OTB Group has not yet announced a successor.
Since taking the helm in 2017, the duo has redefined the brand’s aesthetic while honoring its minimalist foundations. Their departure comes shortly after former Fendi executive Serge Brunschwig was named CEO of Jil Sander and chief strategy officer of OTB Group, which acquired the label in 2021.
The Meiers’ professional journey began long before Jil Sander. They first met as students at Polimoda in Florence in 2001. Luke went on to become design director at Supreme and found OAMC, while Lucie honed her skills at Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga before serving as interim Creative director at Dior following the departure of Raf Simons.
Their complementary backgrounds proved invaluable at Jil Sander, where they developed what fashion insiders call “abstract minimalism” – a refined approach that balances precision with emotion. Under their leadership, the brand experienced significant commercial growth, opening 18 new stores worldwide and reporting a 17.3 percent increase in sales in 2023.
Their final show embodied everything the Meiers brought to Jil Sander – a masterful balance of structure and fluidity. Described as a “bright metaphor of love,” the collection featured contrasting elements: tough leather jackets and metal eyelets softened by delicate floral prints and feathers emerging from English wool.
The presentation began in darkness before gradually revealing looks that sought light against the backdrop of today’s turbulent world. This metaphorical journey mirrored the Meiers’ own journey at Jil Sander, where they have consistently found beauty in restraint and meaning in simplicity.
The OTB Group, which acquired Jil Sander in April 2021, also owns brands such as Diesel, Marni and Maison Martin Margiela.
