The long-respected and venerable house of Lanvin is once again redefining itself, blending the old and the new in a fascinating way. Amidst significant internal changes, their anticipated Cruise 2024 (Resort 2024) collection displays a vibrant dance between tradition and innovation. As the oldest, continuously operating fashion maison in Paris, Lanvin embraces its rich heritage while simultaneously exploring new creative avenues.
Over the past year, Lanvin has undergone monumental shifts, with Creative director Bruno Sialelli bidding farewell to the fashion house. Concurrently, the brand introduced a fresh and audacious concept: the “Lanvin Lab”. This inventive platform is not just a testing ground, but a playground for creativity, uniting emerging talents with seasoned professionals. The first of these collaborations is with the accomplished rapper, Future, who has already given us a tantalizing taste of the initiative, donning unreleased Lanvin logo overalls at London’s Wireless Festival.
While the fashion world eagerly awaits the announcement of a new Creative director later this fall, Lanvin’s in-house studio team has been holding the reins. Their efforts have culminated in the creation of the Cruise 2024 collection, an assembly of womenswear and menswear that simultaneously embodies the allure of chic restoration and contemporary fashion trends.
As Siddhartha Shukla, CEO of Lanvin, eloquently noted, this collection is about the “restoration of the ultimate chic”. This sentiment underlines the central theme: creating a narrative of glamour that aligns with Lanvin’s storied past while remaining inherently modern.
The collection itself is an exhibition of splendidly conceived pieces. The inclusion of complex diamond-lattice knits, effortlessly stylish knit tops suitable for both day and night, and the opulent Fortuny-pleated skirts adorned with Art Deco embellishments, captures the essence of both tradition and trend. The infusion of glamour is further accentuated by the use of paillette embroideries and the subtle elegance of delicate chainmail wings.
The menswear presented in the Cruise 2024 collection stays true to the mantra of “effortlessly chic”. This is achieved through well-tailored pieces that embody versatility and style, without overpowering flamboyance.
