The feverish chanting and cheering from a block away might have suggested a thrilling tennis match between giants like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. But the excitement was not on the courts, but in a former bank in central Paris, where Lacoste Creative director Pelagia Kolotouros presented her second collection. The Spring/Summer 2025 lineup was a stunning tribute to the brand’s origins, fusing heritage with contemporary style.
Inside the venue, the setting was a far cry from the clay courts of Roland-Garros. Instead, a sandy runway evoked a beach atmosphere, enhanced by a wave-like net installation created by British artist Susie MacMurray. Screens depicting crashing waves added to the coastal ambiance.
Kolotouros was inspired by founder René Lacoste’s off-court style, particularly 1920s photographs of him and his friends at the seaside. The collection seamlessly integrated elements of 1920s swimwear, silky robes and sharp tailoring with modern, street-savvy pieces such as denim neo-polo shirts and micro-ripstop nylon parkas.
Standout pieces included suits in a new piqué fabric that mimicked the feel of tropical wool, oversized leather blousons and shorts designed to slouch with wear, and bodysuits and dresses that subtly revealed ribs or backs. There were also playful tennis-themed details, such as sweaters with a racket motif and the wearer’s head as the ball. The color palette ranged from sandy beige to deep chocolate, with accents of tennis ball yellow, black and various greens.
