Kim Jones celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Marc Jacobs brand by paying tribute to his friend’s love of all things dazzling. The Artistic director of Dior Men has designed a limited-edition necklace that captures the shared creative spirit of the two fashion luminaries.
Launching this Thursday, the Dior necklace features balloon-style initials – CD for Christian Dior and MJ for Marc Jacobs – embellished with shimmering crystal pendants. The design is reminiscent of the charm necklaces and bracelets that Jacobs offers under his own affordable luxury label.
Only 20 pieces of this exclusive necklace will be produced, each priced at €1,500 EUR. The exclusive distribution spans fourteen carefully selected Dior boutiques, from the Avenue Montaigne flagship in Paris, Dior Men’s shop-in-shop at Harrods in London, to the bustling streets of Fifth Avenue in New York. Other stores in Miami, Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei will also carry the necklace.
The professional bond between these fashion virtuosos dates back to their time together at Louis Vuitton. From 2011 to 2013, the two overlapped at Louis Vuitton, with Jones leading the men’s ready-to-wear division during the final years of Jacobs’ influential tenure as Artistic director.
In recent years, both designers have served on the jury of the LVMH Prize for Young Designers. In 2022, they also collaborated on a Fendi collection celebrating the 25th anniversary of the iconic Baguette handbag.
In addition, Marc Jacobs’ 40th anniversary celebrations have attracted contributions from other fashion luminaries and designers such as Anna Sui, Nigo and renowned make-up artist Pat McGrath.
