Giorgio Armani, the legendary Italian designer, brought his signature elegance to New York City with a Spring/Summer 2025 runway show. The event, held at the historic Park Avenue Armory, marked Armani’s first destination show in the Big Apple since 2013 and coincided with the opening of his new flagship store on Madison Avenue. The show also marked the first time the designer presented his main line outside of Italy and the traditional Milan Fashion Week calendar.
The 90-year-old fashion icon transformed the Armory into a 1930s Grand Central Terminal, complete with a jazz club atmosphere. The cinematic setting perfectly complemented the collection’s theme, “In Viaggio,” (On a Journey) and reflected Armani’s enduring love of New York and its golden age of cinema.
As 650 black-tie-clad guests gathered, including Hollywood stars Amanda Seyfried, Brie Larson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Cooper and Payton Koch, Liev Schreiber, Orlando Bloom, Gemma Chan, Thomas Doherty, Steven Yeun and Brooke Shields, the runway came alive with Armani’s vision for the upcoming season. The collection seamlessly blended the designer’s classic aesthetic with contemporary trends, offering a fresh take on luxury travel wear.
Opening with impeccably dressed porters carrying suitcases, the show immediately established its travel motif. The first looks showcased Armani’s mastery of unstructured tailoring, with beige and greige suits for men and the designer’s signature fluid pantsuits for women. These pieces embodied the quiet luxury that has become synonymous with the Armani brand.
Throughout the collection, Armani presented a harmonious mix of sportswear and eveningwear. Standout pieces included a rich chocolate brown trench coat and a strapless gray dress worn over pants, both of which showcased the designer’s knack for sophisticated simplicity.
The Spring/Summer 2025 line also incorporated some of the season’s key trends, such as bohemian influences, sheer fabrics and pastel hues. Caftans, wraps and fringe details gave the collection a relaxed, travel-inspired feel. Palm motifs on men’s shirts and artisanal accessories such as perforated leather boots and tortoise bracelets enhanced the exotic travel theme.
Armani’s signature neutral palette transitioned gracefully into soft pastels that adorned flowing skirts, bloomer shorts and sheer blouses. For evening wear, slinky embellished gowns exuded effortless femininity, paired with flat sandals for a modern touch.
At the end of the show, the models remained on the runway, allowing guests to get up close and personal with the intricate details of the collection.
The Spring/Summer 2025 collection not only celebrated Armani’s enduring influence on fashion, but also demonstrated his continued relevance in the industry. As the designer approaches his company’s 50th anniversary, this New York showcase served as a testament to his unparalleled vision and the timeless appeal of the Armani aesthetic.
