Willy Chavarria and adidas Originals have reunited for the Spring/Summer 2025 collection, a two-part release that will arrive in May and July. At the heart of the new adidas Originals x Willy Chavarria collaboration is the reimagined adidas Jabbar sneaker, a silhouette first designed for basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1978. Now the sneaker comes in two fresh styles: the Chavarria Jabbar Low and the Jabbar Dress. The updated versions introduce pointed toes and a monochromatic palette, bringing new life to a classic while respecting Abdul-Jabbar’s influence on both sports and culture.
The apparel offering includes both men’s and women’s designs and includes the Chicano Sweatshirt, Football Jersey, Wide Leg Trackpant, Polo and Heavyweight Hoodie. July’s second release promises even more with items such as the Poplin Trackpant, Basketball Jersey and Gym Short. These pieces reflect Chavarria’s signature style, influenced by his personal history and love for adidas.
The adidas Originals x Willy Chavarria Spring/Summer 2025 campaign is inspired by South Central Los Angeles and focuses on themes of love, legacy and community. Shot by LA-based photographer Carlos Jaramillo, the visuals feature adidas athletes and basketball players Candace Parker and Skyy Clark, as well as Mexican actor Alejandro Speitzer. The campaign brings authenticity and a sense of home, connecting with the generations that have made adidas a part of their lives.
Willy Chavarria shared, “adidas’ place in Chicano culture is a bit of an untold story. I love sharing this iconic brand in a way that reflects how I wore it growing up and how we wear it now. Working with my close friends and extended family on this project in L.A. was a powerful and personal experience. It allowed me to capture the beauty of our Brown brothers and sisters against the backdrop that is home to so many of us.”
The adidas Originals x Willy Chavarria Spring/Summer 2025 collection will be available at select adidas stores, willychavarria.com, the Confirmed app and adidas.com/willy_chavarria. The first drop will arrive on May 8th, followed by the second on July 10th.
