A sucker for romance and beauty, for his return to the runway, Giambattista Valli chose the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris to show his Spring/Summer 2022 collection so that guests could examine and enjoy his creations close-up as if they were works of art.

“Life is beautiful – let’s enjoy it. Beauty was my escape during lockdown. It was a window for my soul”, said the designer.
It was an oh-so Giambattista collection filled with short dresses and skirts with Swiss dot embroidery and bouncing ruffles at the front, Empire waist designs edged in gold, and miles of white lace shaped into long dresses, sheer paneling and floral prints – just a very feminine collection that would make any girly girl blush.
The color palette feels pulled from a palace garden or an impressionist painting. Starring whites intertwine with warm reds, bright peaches, and baby pinks with sprinkles of dusty sage and sea foam green.
Taking over the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris – which houses some of his favorite Picabias – Valli wanted to stage an intimate experience to go with his philosophy of beauty: something effortless and undemanding. “People do huge venues with enormous decors where you see the collection from far away. Me, I like intimacy: being seated next to the clothes”, he said.
