For his Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Kévin Germanier combines bold craftsmanship with a daring reimagining of perfection, challenging traditional notions of luxury while remaining rooted in sustainable innovation. The Swiss designer’s debut couture show in Paris fused upcycled vintage treasures with handcrafted artistry, proving that opulence and ethics can coexist.
Backstage, Germanier described his vision as a rebellion against rigid ideals, inspired by characters like Desperate Housewives star Bree Van de Kamp – women who embody flawless control yet yearn for liberation. “What if every cell in your body became infused with Germanier?” he mused. That question materialized on the runway through garments that seemed to pulse with life. Vintage Dior jackets and Yves Saint Laurent heels, sourced from thrift stores, were reworked into shimmering statements. Delicate hand beads replaced feathers, while raffia fibers were meticulously combed into quivering points. Knitwear cascaded in soft gradient folds, and crocheted lamé pieces blurred the line between fabric and sculpture.

Menswear made a strategic appearance, underscoring Germanier’s belief that “crystallized elegance isn’t gendered.” Front row guest Jean-Christophe Bouvet, of “Emily in Paris” fame, embodied this ethos in a tailored ensemble that balanced sophistication with rebellion.
The Haute Couture collection’s deeper narrative emerged through its tactile details. Collaborations with artisans such as India’s Sachin and Brazil’s Gustavo Silvestre underscored Germanier’s commitment to global craftsmanship. Each piece served as a canvas for techniques passed down through generations, from intricate embroidery to organic reed shaping. But the designer resisted relying solely on heritage. “Couture shouldn’t mean abandoning upcycling,” he asserted. “My clients expect evolution, not abandonment.”
This tension between transformation and tradition defined the show. Models walked in iridescent gowns that shifted hues with their movements, evoking a metamorphosis from restraint to radiant freedom. One look featured veins of light under translucent fabric, reflecting the story of a woman shedding perfection to embrace her chaotic, vibrant core.
