For his Spring/Summer 2022 Haute Couture collection, designer Ronald van der Kemp explores a meta averse universe full of IRL avatars.

His collection was made from waste materials, vintage scraps, and materials from previous RVDK collections. For example, he integrated the waste generated by cut flowers into his designs, as in a ruffled silk moiré bustier dress he compared to “whipped cream”, incorporating real roses, or pewter found in a thrift shop was melted down to create a bodice and delicate jewelry pieces with an Art Deco feel. And many of the looks were hand painted by the designer himself.
