David Koma‘s Fall/Winter 2025 collection marks 15 years of his namesake brand with a confident step into the future. Combining sculptural precision with playful boldness, the Georgian-born designer channels his signature themes of futurism, kinetic energy and surreal embellishment into garments that defy convention. Fresh from his acclaimed debut as Creative director of Blumarine, Koma delivers a lineup where discoid necklines and crystal-encrusted brooches coexist with leather scales and pom-pom vines, demonstrating his ability to evolve without losing his avant-garde edge.
The collection revisits three pillars of Koma’s work. Velvet-bonded LBDs with geometric cuts nod to his 2009 graduate designs, while asymmetrical nappa leather skirts and ruffled mini-dresses emphasize movement through fluid draping and reflective tassels. Crystal appliqués and feathered silk tulle pieces evoke past triumphs, including his 2011 Yayoi Kusama-inspired polka dots, but feel reinvigorated by sharper tailoring and bolder proportions.

For Fall/Winter 2025, Koma shifts the focus to a Bond-inspired fantasy, imagining a female 007 who combines elegance with deadly charm. Denim bodices trimmed with hyper-realistic faux fur contrast with spaceship-shaped crocodile skirts, while angular red and black dresses evoke the allure of Bond heroines like Grace Jones’ May Day. The range balances commercial appeal with experimental silhouettes, showcasing Koma’s knack for transforming daywear into statement pieces without sacrificing wearability.
Koma’s designs thrive on contrast: matte leather against iridescent discs, textured denim softened by faux fur, and bodycon shapes disrupted by eruptions of lycra. This tension reflects his growth-honed precision allows for greater creative freedom, as seen in the meticulous craftsmanship of scaled leather overlays and gemstone embroidery.
Looking ahead, Koma emphasizes joy and intentionality. “The next chapter is about pure joy,” he says, underscoring a shift toward designs that feel liberated yet intentional. With Blumarine’s success increasing his visibility, Fall/Winter 2025 cements his status as a designer unafraid to push boundaries while remaining rooted in technical mastery.
