Missoni has announced a change in its creative leadership. Filippo Grazioli, who joined the Italian brand in 2022, is stepping down from his role as Creative director. The company has announced that Alberto Caliri, a long-time Missoni collaborator, will take the helm.
Livio Proli, CEO of Missoni, expressed confidence in Caliri’s appointment, praising his deep understanding of the brand’s DNA. “Alberto has the ability to envision a garment by just looking at a yarn,” Proli said. “This is because of his ‘mestiere,’ or craft and expertise. Anyone can approach fashion, but excellence requires ‘mestiere‘ and Alberto will allow us to make that leap.”
Caliri’s history with Missoni spans more than two decades, having first joined the company in 1998. His familiarity with the brand’s aesthetic and values makes him a natural choice for the role. In 2021, Caliri served briefly as interim Creative director, replacing Angela Missoni, and produced well-received collections for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter 2022.
Caliri’s debut collection for Missoni will be unveiled for Pre-Fall 2025. His artistic background and design expertise are expected to bring a fresh perspective to the brand while honoring its rich heritage.
Filippo Grazioli’s departure comes after a relatively short tenure at Missoni. During his time with the brand, he paid homage to founders Ottavio and Rosita Missoni by reinterpreting their iconic zigzag and flame patterns. His collections featured innovative uses of transparency, knotted fabrics and draped silhouettes.
Before joining Missoni, Grazioli honed his skills at prestigious fashion houses such as Maison Margiela, Hermès, Givenchy and Burberry. His experience in Paris and London has brought an international flair to the Italian label.
