A new chapter in Burberry fragrance
Burberry is expanding its fragrance offering with the Burberry Prorsum Collection, a range of eight fragrances that connects perfume with the house’s fashion heritage. Developed with beauty license partner Coty, the collection takes its name from the Latin word Prorsum, meaning “forward,” a longstanding reference in Burberry’s identity.
The launch arrives as the British fashion house celebrates 170 years since Thomas Burberry established the business in 1856. Rather than focusing exclusively on traditional perfume categories, the new range draws on familiar aspects of British life, from rainy gardens to the materials used in Burberry clothing.
Each fragrance was developed around three principal ingredients and a fourth contrasting element called a “raker.” The concept references the red stripe crossing Burberry’s recognizable check pattern.

Kensington Trench captures the character of an iconic coat
Among the eight fragrances, Kensington Trench offers perhaps the clearest connection to Burberry’s clothing.
Created by IFF perfumer Meabh McCurtin, the eau de parfum interprets the experience of wearing a freshly cleaned trench coat. Natural aldehydes suggest crisp cotton, while a morning rain accord introduces an earthy quality. Cashmere wood adds a subtle spicy character.
Vanilla absolute provides warmth without making the fragrance excessively sweet. McCurtin drew inspiration from childhood memories of her mother wearing a trench coat, particularly the way perfume remained on the fabric after rainy days.
The result connects a familiar garment with the personal memories that can become attached to clothing over time.

Eight fragrances with distinct British references
Beyond Kensington Trench, the collection explores seven additional interpretations of Burberry’s identity.
London combines orange marmalade, patchouli and licorice root. Garden Rain, created by Caroline Sabas, brings together spearmint, violet and petrichor, the earthy smell associated with rainfall on dry ground.
Cashmere Embrace explores the softer qualities of fabric through ginger, sandalwood and vetiver. Knight brings together rose, English berries and oud wood, while Est. 1856 references the house’s beginnings through longjing tea, leather and incense.
These different approaches allow the collection to cover fresh, floral, woody and warmer fragrance preferences without relying on a single interpretation of British heritage.

Packaging inspired by the Burberry check
The bottles extend the connection between fashion and fragrance. Their cut-glass surfaces feature the Burberry check, while differently colored caps carry the house’s knight emblem.
The outer packaging also uses a restrained interpretation of the check pattern.
These details distinguish Prorsum from Burberry’s established fragrance ranges, including Goddess and Her, while keeping its presentation closely connected to the fashion house.
Pricing and International availability
The collection represents Burberry’s highest-priced perfume offering. A 50 ml eau de parfum costs €195, while the 100 ml format is priced at €295.
The initial release began on October 27th, 2026, through selected Burberry stores and the brand’s British online platform. Selfridges is scheduled to introduce the collection on November 2nd.
A limited international rollout is planned for early 2027, beginning with the United States, other European markets and the Middle East, followed by Asia.
For Burberry, Prorsum represents a move into the upper segment of luxury perfumery, where the origin of ingredients, the identity of perfumers and the design of each bottle increasingly influence purchasing decisions.
The collection also reflects a broader effort to make Burberry’s British heritage relevant beyond clothing. Whether customers respond to that approach will depend on how the perfumes perform alongside established luxury fragrance competitors.
