For Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2027, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana looked to the wardrobes of old Sicilian families and asked a simple question: what happens when a younger generation inherits beautiful clothes but refuses to treat them as untouchable?
The collection, titled “Stravaganza Siciliana,” was built around that idea of inheritance without reverence. Its imagined protagonist raids the family wardrobe, borrowing pieces associated with mothers, grandmothers and aunts, then combining them according to instinct rather than tradition. Black lace, corsetry, lingerie, leopard print and ornate jewelry remained familiar Dolce & Gabbana signatures, but the styling made them feel noticeably less formal.
The designers framed the collection around a line from Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s “The Leopard“: “For everything to remain as it is, everything must change.” It proved an appropriate starting point. The house did not abandon its established vocabulary. Instead, it changed the way those elements were worn.
That shift was most visible in the unexpected combinations. Handmade crochet appeared with black lace lingerie. Heavy tweed was placed beside delicate embroidered linen. Decorative jackets were reduced to simple pairings with shorts, while elaborate silk pieces were grounded with oversized boyfriend jeans. Pastel lace sat comfortably beside leopard print, and brocade appeared alongside miniskirts and denim.
Materials associated with traditional Sicilian interiors also entered the wardrobe. Damask, passementerie and upholstery-inspired textiles were reworked into jackets and dresses, blurring the distinction between clothing and the domestic objects that might surround generations of one family.

Jewelry played an equally important role. Pearls, coral, crosses, cameos, brooches and talismans were layered generously rather than coordinated carefully. The effect suggested someone opening an inherited jewelry box and deciding to wear several memories at once.
There was also a glance toward the brand’s own past. A D&G logo T-shirt appeared with more elaborate pieces, acknowledging the early-2000s line that still carries nostalgic value for many longtime customers. In that sense, the collection treated recent fashion history with the same freedom as older heirlooms.
Leopard print, another enduring house code, was softened by its surroundings. Rather than functioning only as a symbol of overt glamour, it appeared beside lace, denim and sentimental jewelry, giving it a more personal quality.
The broader message was straightforward. Clothes with history do not need to be preserved untouched. Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2027 suggested that their relevance may depend on being worn freely, mixed with ordinary pieces and adapted to the person who owns them now.
