There is a renewed appetite for archival Cavalli, and Roberto Cavalli Spring 2027 arrives at exactly the right moment. Vintage collectors are rediscovering printed leathers, early Just Cavalli pieces are circulating again on resale platforms, and the brand’s more unruly years suddenly feel relevant.

Fausto Puglisi appears fully aware of that shift. For this season, he returned to many of the house codes that made Cavalli instantly recognizable: animal prints, devoré velvet, dense embroidery, body-conscious shapes and denim with attitude. The difference was in how he assembled them. Rather than building the collection around major evening statements, he focused heavily on separates.
Miniskirts, hot pants, bike shorts, camisoles, halter tops and low-rise jeans formed the base of the wardrobe. Many looks were layered with zebra stripes, leopard patterns, floral prints, crystals, feathers and fringe. In a Milan season often dominated by restrained palettes, the color and texture felt deliberately conspicuous.

Puglisi has said he was thinking about the current moment and the need for optimism. That idea came through less as a slogan than as a styling decision. The clothes suggested parties, late nights and a return to dressing for attention. If you have noticed heels returning to front rows and more overt glamour appearing after years of quiet luxury, this collection fits neatly into that change.
The references ranged widely. Puglisi cited Courtney Love, early-2000s television wardrobes, Los Angeles subcultures, Renaissance painting and contemporary art. Yet those influences worked more as background than as literal themes. The clearest thread was the late 1990s and early 2000s habit of wearing printed Cavalli tops with jeans, a combination he described as part of a familiar New York uniform of that period.

That memory shaped some of the most convincing looks. Skinny flared jeans and micro denim skirts were embellished with flowers, sparkle and trim, while sheer tops and long printed robes added movement. Slip dresses with ruffled tiers brought a softer note. Fringed gowns and flowing pieces introduced a slightly bohemian mood, while sarong skirts and shell-like details extended the sense of holiday dressing.

The collection also marked Puglisi’s first outing since Roberto Cavalli came under Marquee Brands ownership. There was no visible attempt to soften the label’s identity. If anything, the strategy was the opposite.
Roberto Cavalli Spring 2027 works by accepting excess as part of the house’s language. It does not try to make Cavalli quieter. It makes the archive feel usable again by breaking it into pieces that can be mixed, layered and worn with less ceremony.
