After the cultural impact of “Love Story,” Calvin Klein’s next move felt almost inevitable. Interest in the brand’s 1990s aesthetic surged dramatically, renewing fascination with the stripped-back elegance associated with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and the house’s most influential era. For Calvin Klein Collection Spring 2027, Creative director Veronica Leoni embraces that legacy directly, while making it her own.
Her approach is built around reduction. Rather than treating minimalism as an exercise in cold simplicity, Leoni focuses on the relationship between clothing and the body. The result is a wardrobe of precise essentials: slip dresses, pencil skirts, straight trousers, white T-shirts, lightweight tailoring and fluid separates. Nothing feels overworked, yet every proportion appears carefully considered.
That sense of control gives the collection its strength. A sleeveless evening dress is defined by a deep neckline, while jumpsuits, softly cut suits and sharply fitted skirts balance sensuality with restraint. Denim is washed and pared back, and the palette remains largely rooted in black and white, interrupted by flashes of deep yellow, electric blue and royal blue.
Accessories follow the same logic. Metallic headbands keep hair cleanly away from the face, scarves fall naturally along the body, and oversized bags combine functionality with sculptural clarity. Some are structured, others soft and relaxed, including a new folded, almost origami-like silhouette.
The setting reinforced the message. Inside New York’s historic Terminal Warehouse in the Meatpacking District, exposed brick and polished concrete created a quiet, almost museum-like atmosphere. Monumental stainless-steel works by Walter De Maria punctuated the space, giving the show a sense of discipline and scale.
An equally high-profile guest list – including Pamela Anderson, Emily Ratajkowski, Teyana Taylor, Tate McRae, Sadie Sink and Rosalía – added star power without distracting from the clothes.
Seven years after Calvin Klein stepped away from the runway, the brand now appears increasingly confident in reclaiming the language it helped define. Leoni’s achievement is not simply to reproduce 1990s minimalism, but to remind us why it became so influential in the first place: precision, clarity, wearability – and desire.
