Tommy Hilfiger returned to one of New York’s most storied addresses for Spring 2027, transforming The Plaza Hotel into a stage for a deeply personal celebration of American style. The landmark venue carries particular significance for the designer, who once lived there with his family, making it an apt setting for a collection that brought together uptown polish and downtown ease.
Hilfiger said New York has remained a constant source of inspiration throughout his four decades in fashion, particularly the way its residents reinterpret familiar wardrobe staples with individual attitude. For Spring 2027, that idea shaped a collection in which the brand’s most recognizable codes were revisited with updated proportions, sharper color contrasts and more contemporary materials.

The label’s traditional red, white and blue palette remained central, but it was joined by flashes of bright yellow and saturated green. Preppy classics were reworked across the collection, including rugby dresses in bold color-blocking, Oxford shirts in Ithaca stripes and tartan plaids applied to blazers and Ivy-style jackets.
Polos appeared in both fitted and oversized forms, often finished with a miniature embroidered Tommy crest. Raised collars added a deliberate reference to collegiate dressing. Chinos were also reconsidered, ranging from abbreviated, high-cut shorts in vivid shades to more restrained versions featuring slightly twisted seams inspired by denim construction.

Elsewhere, the Tommy Flag motif was treated with a softer, more lived-in finish. It appeared faded and washed across superfine suede, silk-cashmere fabrics and oversized tote bags. The footwear continued the mix of nostalgia and refinement, with rounded two-tone skate sneakers recalling the 1990s alongside boat shoes, penny loafers and leather interpretations of the pool slide.
The setting reinforced the collection’s vision of modern American prep. The Plaza’s Palm Court and Terrace Room hosted a wide-ranging group of guests from fashion, entertainment, music and sport as part of the brand’s F.A.M.E.S. community.

Gigi Hadid opened the runway, while the audience included Kate Moss, Camila Cabello, Blackpink’s Jisoo, Girls’ Generation members Hyoyeon Kim, Yuri Kwon and Sooyoung Choi, as well as Yosh Yu, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Arón Piper and Carmelo Anthony. Basketball players Josh Hart, Karl-Anthony Towns and Miles McBride were also among the front-row guests, contributing to the diverse mix of personalities gathered for the show.
Music played an equally important role in the presentation. Matt Jones and the Matt Jones Orchestra moved between classic influences and a more contemporary soundtrack, while Romeo Beckham appeared in the final runway look, bringing a relaxed sensibility to the collection’s polished preppy language.

The show concluded with a surprise performance by Slayyyter, who delivered her pop track “Dance.” Wearing Tommy Hilfiger from head to toe, she appeared in red shirting, cropped shorts, a necktie and black knee-high boots. Her appearance continued the brand’s long-standing practice of connecting fashion with musicians and performers who influence contemporary culture.
For Hilfiger, The Plaza is more than a famous New York landmark. The years his family spent there made its history, atmosphere and constantly changing cast of guests part of his own creative memory. By returning to the hotel for Spring 2027, the designer brought those personal associations together with the brand’s enduring identity, using the setting to introduce another interpretation of what Tommy Hilfiger calls “Classic American Cool.”
