Chinese actress Liu Shishi, also known professionally as Cecilia Liu, has been named the latest global ambassador for Celine. The French luxury house welcomes Liu in a further strategic move to strengthen its ties with the Asian market.
“For me, Celine embodies the essence of Parisian sophistication and utmost femininity,” said Liu Shishi in a statement.
Trained at the prestigious Beijing Dance Academy, Liu has made a name for herself as an actress with memorable performances, most notably her breakthrough role in “Scarlet Heart.” The 2011 fantasy court drama not only won her several awards, including the Most Popular Actress award at the China TV Drama Awards, but also introduced her to her future husband, Taiwanese star Nicky Wu, who played the leading man in the drama. The couple has a son who was born in 2019.
In addition to her new role with Celine, Liu is a global ambassador for other luxury brands including Tod’s, Qeelin and Omega.
Liu joins a talented roster of Celine global ambassadors, including South Korean stars such as actress and singer Suzy Bae, V from BTS, actor Park Bo Gum and Danielle from NewJeans. Most recently, Celine chose South Korean boy band TWS as its brand ambassador.
Celine has also appointed actress Gengxi “Teresa” Li as its local ambassador, further strengthening its presence in the Chinese market. With 42 stores in mainland China, including a recently renovated 3,000-square-foot (279 m²) store in Hangzhou, the brand is well positioned to continue its growth in the region.
