Belgian fashion house Dries Van Noten welcomes Julian Klausner as its new Creative director. The 33-year-old Belgian designer joined Dries Van Noten in August 2018, working alongside Dries to design and develop the women’s collections. As Creative director, he will develop both menswear and womenswear, ensuring that the brand’s distinctive and strong identity remains at the forefront of his vision.
The appointment represents careful succession planning, with Van Noten himself expressing full confidence in his successor. “He is not only a talented designer, but also a clear choice to take over after my departure,” Van Noten said.
A graduate of the prestigious La Cambre visual arts and fashion school in Brussels, Klausner honed his craft through internships at Thom Browne, Kenzo and Maison Margiela before joining Dries Van Noten in 2016.
Commenting on his new role, Klausner said, “The incomparable legacy that Dries is leaving behind is monumental, serving as an endless source of precious inspiration. I look forward to embarking on new ambitious challenges while honoring the heritage we all cherish.”
His immediate focus will be on the presentation of the Fall/Winter 2025 womenswear collection, scheduled for March 5th, 2025 during Paris Fashion Week. The menswear collection for the same season will be presented in a lookbook format under his direction.
Marc Puig, the group’s chief executive, emphasized Klausner’s unique qualifications for the role, citing his deep understanding of the brand’s DNA. “His deep knowledge of the brand’s values has been cultivated over time, allowing for a thoughtful transfer of creative vision that both preserves Dries’ essence and pushes it forward,” he said.
As previously reported, Dries Van Noten announced in March that he wished to retire from fashion after an extraordinary 38-year career.
Dries Van Noten‘s final show at the helm of his eponymous label, presenting the Men’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, took place in June during Paris Fashion Week Men’s.
