His Spring/Summer 2022 collection for Loewe manipulated the concepts of proportion, surrealism, and materialization to produce a groundbreaking show that sets a new standard for the future of fashion.
Anderson looked to the work of Italian Renaissance painter Jacopo da Pontormo to fuel his latest outing he described as “neurotic, psychedelic, completely hysterical”.
The draped and gathered fabric of the clothes look as if they were floating in water. The sculptural metallic breastplate found on the dresses, trench coats and denim jackets were inspired by Pontormo’s Greco-Roman subject matter and the highly ornamental nature of his works.
Other highlights in the collection included: fetching slipdresses with ruffled slits, ribbed jersey t-shirt material with golden breastplates, turtle-neck sheaths featuring clear resin “breastplates”, slouchy boots in bright, teddy-bear fabrics, and translucent sneakers that looked as if they were made of beeswax.
