The fashion world is buzzing with excitement as Louis Vuitton officially welcomes the multi-talented actress and style icon, Zendaya, to its star-studded lineup of brand ambassadors. Last month, her presence at the Louis Vuitton show in Paris ignited rumors, which have now been confirmed with the release of her first campaign for the French fashion house, showcasing the iconic Capucines handbag.
Zendaya’s debut campaign as Louis Vuitton’s newest ambassador features the “Euphoria” star effortlessly embodying the essence of the Capucines handbag. Captured by renowned photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the campaign unfolds against the stunning backdrop of E-1027, a modernist villa designed by Eileen Gray, located in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France. Louis Vuitton’s statement describes Zendaya’s contribution to the campaign, stating, “From poolside to terrace, balcony to rooftop, day to night, the award-winning actress imbues the campaign and Capucines with a fresh yet sensual grace“.
The Golden Globe-winning actress, who previously served as a house ambassador for Valentino since 2020, has also appeared in campaigns for Bvlgari and Lancôme’s Idôle fragrance. This latest collaboration with Louis Vuitton showcases Zendaya posing with various Capucines models, including the miniature Capucines BB. The campaign was styled by Law Roach, Zendaya’s longtime friend and stylist.
Interestingly, the campaign was shot before Roach announced his retirement, which led to speculation of a rift between him and Zendaya due to a seating confusion at the Louis Vuitton show. Roach later clarified on Twitter that their relationship remains strong: “We are forever”. The two were also seen together at the opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center in Mumbai earlier this month. Louis Vuitton has not commented on whether Roach will be involved in future campaigns or events featuring Zendaya.
The Capucines handbag, introduced in 2013, is named after Rue Neuve-des-Capucines, the Paris street where Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854. The elegant and timeless bag has been featured in ad campaigns with an impressive roster of stars, including Cate Blanchett, Emma Stone, Naomi Osaka and Léa Seydoux.
