Vivienne Westwood has unveiled a Spring/Summer 2024 campaign that’s as much a celebration of her past as it is a vibrant leap into the future. Gone are the days of runway snapshots; this is a deep dive into the creative wellspring of the house, infused with the personal touch of her long-time collaborator and husband, Andreas Kronthaler.
Juergen Teller, a seasoned fashion photographer and Westwood confidant, lends his lens to capture the essence of the collection. Familiar faces such as Naomi Campbell grace the campaign, but the real star of the show is a glimpse into Kronthaler’s curated exhibition of Vivienne’s personal wardrobe from the past four decades. This is a nostalgic trip down memory lane and a vibrant reimagining, a breath of fresh air breathed into iconic silhouettes.

“We initially envisioned a still life campaign,” Kronthaler reveals, “as the perfect way to showcase Vivienne’s reimagined wardrobe. Mannequins came to mind, so we explored factories where they’re crafted.” Their search led them to a hidden gem, one of the last remaining mannequin factories in East London. With a cast in tow, they transformed the factory floor into a unique shooting space.

“The warmth and welcome we received were incredible,” Kronthaler continues. “We had free reign to shoot amongst the working machinery, offering a fascinating glimpse into the world behind the scenes. It was a joy to spend the day with our cast and witness the meticulous artistry that goes into each piece. The energy was palpable, a perfect reflection of the collection itself.“
This fusion of heritage and forward thinking defines the Spring/Summer 2024 campaign. Think billowing Shakespearean-inspired dresses reimagined with Vivienne Westwood‘s signature punk edge, oversized cotton poplin shirts reminiscent of her 80s heyday, and corsets that cinch the waist and free the spirit. It’s a collection that whispers of rebellion, of defying convention, while embracing the timeless elegance of Westwood’s design ethos.
