Donatella Versace looks to a brighter future with the Versace Spring/Summer 2025 collection, inspired by the vibrant energy and carefree spirit of her 1997 Versus line. Set against the illuminated backdrop of Milan’s Castello Sforzesco, the collection served as a powerful reminder of fashion’s ability to uplift and inspire.
The show opened with a jolt of energy as an illuminated lightning bolt split the runway, setting the tone for a collection that pulsated with youthful exuberance. A kaleidoscope of colors and prints reminiscent of the 90s dominated the runway. Silky blouses, floral-print slips and zigzag polos offered a fresh take on casual wear, while colorful tights and slingbacks added a playful touch.
Menswear followed suit, embracing a rave-ready aesthetic with sheer floral shirts, Medusa-print leather jackets and relaxed lounge sets. The collection balanced its casual roots with Versace’s legacy of tailored elegance with the introduction of shrunken baby blue blazers and lemon yellow suits.
Versace’s iconic metal mesh was updated with 3D printed recycled nylon polymers, as seen on a striking gold bustier dress. The collection also showcased the brand’s commitment to sustainability with flower fragment brooches made from recycled plastic bottles and cigarette butts.
The collection’s vibrant palette and playful silhouettes were a clear nod to the 1997 Versus show, a time when Donatella Versace was at the helm of the diffusion line and the fashion world was abuzz with a sense of optimism and freedom. This season, Versace rekindles that spirit, reminding us that fashion, at its core, is about embracing joy and self-expression.
