Intimacy was the key word for the Ulla Johnson Spring/Summer 2022 collection. The outdoor runway was set at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, around an impressive fountain of flowers.

“The garden was a bit of an oasis for me during this last chapter”, said Johnson, who lives nearby. “We’ve all been doing a lot of reflection, and in those moments I decided I wanted to tell a story about pauses”.
The lineup had all the exuberant feminine shapes, ruffles and craftsy details she is known for, a palette of both hot and soft colors, and batiks, ikats and cowrie shell embroideries galore. There were also sweet dresses in organza with the simplicity and lightness of slips, as well as Italian-made coats, jackets, and pants in patchwork cotton drill well-suited to help us making our way in the day-to-day chaos around us. Touches of madras, crochet lace collars, braided raffia sandals and bulbous leather bags, added rich tactility.
