Tiffany & Co., the renowned jewelry brand from New York City, is expanding its influence into the world of fashion with two new and thrilling projects. The brand has just partnered with Nike to release a reimagined version of the Air Force 1 Low sneakers and has now joined forces with Mitchell & Ness, a sports apparel company, to launch a limited-edition football jersey.
The jersey was created to commemorate Tiffany’s long tradition of designing and crafting iconic sports trophies, including the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy, and to celebrate both Super Bowl LVII and the brand’s legacy. The jersey boasts classic Tiffany elements such as its signature Tiffany Blue accents and the archival “T&CO” emblem, as well as a “57” that represents both the Tiffany & Co. store on Fifth Avenue on 57th Street and the Super Bowl event.
Tiffany & Co. has a strong bond with the sports world, starting with the creation of the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The trophy, which was first produced by Tiffany & Co. for the first Super Bowl in 1967, has become the symbol of the ultimate achievement in American football. In 1970, the trophy was renamed after the famous Green Bay Packers coach, Vince Lombardi. Its design was conceived by Oscar Riedener, a former Vice President at Tiffany & Co., who drew the basic sketch during a meeting with then-NFL commissioner, Pete Rozelle, in 1966. The trophy showcases a regulation-sized football in a kicking position.
The upcoming Super Bowl, taking place on February 12 in Glendale, Arizona, is attracting attention not just from sports fans but also from those who are not interested in sports. Pop star Rihanna will be headlining the halftime show, which is being seen as her big return to the stage. Although the singer and entrepreneur has not released a full album since 2016, rumors are circulating that the Super Bowl may serve as the launchpad for her highly-anticipated new album.
