Stella McCartney‘s Spring/Summer 2025 collection, presented on a gray but dry morning in Paris, showcased the designer’s commitment to sustainable practices and animal welfare.
The collection featured a range of styles, from off-the-shoulder suits and roomy trench coats to delicate plissé dresses and lingerie paired with slouchy pants for evening wear.
Accessories included sculptural high-heeled sandals, boxing boots and the new Ryder bag, a vegan duffel available in multiple sizes. Notable attendees included Natalia Vodianova, a friend of McCartney’s, and Virginie Viard, formerly Creative director of Chanel, who made a rare public appearance with her son.
McCartney highlighted a mini dress made from recycled plastic bottles as a favorite look, and emphasized the word “Mother” on a tank top, referencing both motherhood and Mother Earth. The collection’s avian theme, inspired by birds, was reflected in dove prints, gold bird motifs on jewelry and accessories, and the use of Prince’s “When Doves Cry” on the soundtrack. The designer reiterated her commitment to ending the use of feathers in fashion, noting the huge number of birds killed annually for this purpose. She encouraged a new perspective on masculinity and femininity inspired by the freedom of birds.
The show also served as a platform for environmental activism, with “About Fucking Time” caps and copies of “The Stella Times” newspaper highlighting animal welfare issues.
McCartney’s blend of humor and serious messages reinforces her long-standing position as a creative force for change within the fashion industry.
