Stella McCartney‘s Fall/Winter 2024 collection was a powerful message wrapped in luxurious ready-to-wear. The show opened with a poignant video featuring Olivia Colman reading a letter from Mother Earth, a stark reminder of the environmental crisis we face.
McCartney’s signature mannish tailoring took center stage, with oversized blazers and wide-leg trousers exuding a sense of power and confidence. But this season, the tailoring felt bolder and more playful. Think David Byrne in his “Stop Making Sense” days, with a touch of unexpected fun.

Sustainability remained a core focus, with 90% of the collection crafted from eco-friendly materials. Vegan alternatives to leather and fur showcased innovation without sacrificing style. Sequins and crystals sparkled guilt-free, made with recycled materials and lead-free embellishments.
The collection wasn’t all sharp lines and serious messages. There was room for joy too! Playful details like jeans with built-in eco-leather chaps and a tank top printed with the closing lines of Mother Earth’s letter added a touch of whimsy.
McCartney’s optimism is infectious. While the environmental message is clear, the clothes themselves are uplifting and empowering. You can feel good while looking good, a sentiment we can all get behind.
