Salma Hayek, the “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” actress, emanates timeless elegance on the cover of Madame Figaro’s May 26th, 2023 issue. Noted photographer Rankin (John Rankin Waddell) captured the beauty of Hayek, outfitted in a chic Alexander McQueen suit, offset by striking Boucheron jewelry.
For this special cover story, stylist Carole Matray weaves a narrative of sophistication, adorning Hayek in curated selections from leading designers – Bottega Veneta, Gucci, and Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello.
An all-star beauty team further elevates the photoshoot. Hair stylist Nao Kawakami creates a coiffure that speaks to Hayek’s chic elegance, while make-up artist Sofia Tilbury highlights Hayek’s natural beauty with a minimalist yet enhancing palette. The finishing touch, a meticulously curated manicure, is provided by Kate Williamson.
Salma Hayek, a celebrated actress, producer and activist, is a leading figure in ‘’Women in Motion’’, a Kering initiative promoting women in the arts. Over her three-decade career, Hayek has broken stereotypes, securing substantial roles in Hollywood and producing socially engaged films like ‘’Frida’’ and ‘’The Prophet’’. She was also a key voice in the Weinstein case, amplifying the #MeToo movement.
Hayek is an active participant in ‘’Women In Motion’’, which recognizes and financially supports inspiring female artists and talented young creators. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Kering Foundation, which combats violence against women and has supported over 140,000 women since its inception.
In an interview with Madame Figaro, Hayek shared, “My main engine is curiosity. Everything interests me, my thirst for learning is insatiable. One life seems too short for what I still have to do“. She also expressed her joy at being 56, as it allows her to reflect on the history of women’s achievements and fuels her desire to continue pushing boundaries.
Hayek’s roles in cinema and life are driven by extraordinary energy. She has fought for roles that showcase her talent, such as Frida in ‘’Frida’’ and the lead in ‘’Beatriz at Dinner’’. She is also proud of her work as a producer, supporting South American projects and independent filmmakers.
Hayek’s beauty secret is not Botox, but a meditation practice based on energy and music. She also follows her grandmother’s advice of not washing her face in the morning as the body produces substances that regenerate the skin during the night. She believes that beauty is not just physical, it’s a state of mind. “My age suits me well and I want to age with grace“, she says.
