The longstanding partnership between BLACK COMME des GARÇONS and Nike continues with a new focus on the Nike Field General 82. This collaboration signals their continued interest in the 1982 silhouette, which gained traction when it returned in 2024. Those who follow COMME des GARÇONS’ work know that their choice of sneaker often predicts upcoming trends, as seen with the Air Max TL 2.5 and Pegasus 2k5.

Sticking to the Japanese label’s signature monochrome aesthetic, this version of the Field General 82 boasts an all-black leather design. The design is defined by a chaotic yet artistic pattern of distorted white logos. Both the Nike Swoosh and the “BLACK COMME des GARÇONS” branding are scattered across the upper and outsole in a warped, repeating graphic, giving the retro athletic shoe an avant-garde edge. Co-branded insoles complete the look.

This isn’t the first time the two brands have collaborated on this model. In 2024, an exclusive version with a translucent gum sole and an all-over “Market Market” print was released at a pop-up in Harajuku, Japan. Nike and COMME des GARÇONS have collaborated continuously since 1999, producing multiple colorways for their releases. This suggests that an inverted white-and-black version of this new design might also be on the horizon.

You can anticipate the launch of the BLACK COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Field General 82 (style code: IM7417-001) in the fall/winter 2025 season, as official images have surfaced. It is expected to be available at select Dover Street Market locations.
