MSGM Spring/Summer 2025 ushers in a wave of effortless chic, a clear departure from the brand’s previous penchant for maximalism. For his latest collection, designer Massimo Giorgetti traded the traditional runway for a presentation at the brand’s new headquarters. This shift to a more intimate unveiling reflects a broader industry sentiment as designers grapple with a volatile market and economic uncertainty.
Known for his vibrant use of graphics and color, Giorgetti was inspired by the serene landscapes of his villa, La Vedetta, a modernist marvel overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The collection echoes the villa’s striking white and blue exterior, with crisp cotton shirts cinched with wide elastic bands reminiscent of Vitra’s iconic chair. Giorgetti’s signature graphic treatments are evident throughout, from camp shirts adorned with shimmering silver dollar-sized paillettes to column dresses awash in undulating black and white ribbons.
A collaboration with Milanese artist Luca De Gaetano adds a painterly touch, with Monet-esque garden scenes blooming across shirts and skirts. These pieces, rendered in a charmingly familiar fabric reminiscent of vintage curtains, lend a sense of nostalgic warmth to the collection.
This season, Giorgetti’s vision for MSGM feels particularly focused. By streamlining his inspirations and adopting a less-is-more approach, he allows the essence of his vision to shine through. The result is a collection that feels both contemporary and timeless, a testament to the power of simplicity in a world that often feels anything but.
