MM6 Maison Margiela has been announced as the guest designer for the upcoming Pitti Uomo 107. The menswear trade fair, which will take place at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence from January 14th to 17th, 2025, will present the brand’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection.
The MM6 Maison Margiela design team expressed their excitement for the opportunity, stating, “We are honored and excited to be invited as Pitti Uomo’s guest designer this coming January, as part of the world’s most important menswear fashion fair.” They plan to present an all-menswear collection created specifically for the event in Florence.
This appearance marks a significant return to the Pitti stage for the Maison Margiela brand after nearly 20 years. The design team aims to present “a contemporary menswear wardrobe that will resonate the attitude, concepts and processes of MM6“.
Launched in 1997, MM6 Maison Margiela has followed an unconventional path in the fashion world under the creative direction of a design team. The brand made its runway debut during New York Fashion Week in 2012, and has since presented collections in various fashion capitals. In 2020, it joined the schedule of Milan Fashion Week, where it continues to participate in the women’s shows.
MM6 Maison Margiela officially unveiled its Fall/Winter 2022 menswear collection, which has since been presented on the catwalk alongside its womenswear.
Francesca Tacconi, special events coordinator at Pitti Immagine, commented on MM6’s unique approach: “The deliberate sense of provocation is almost familiar, as it is part of the essence of each MM6 piece.” She highlighted the brand’s exploration of “different postures and behaviors in the here and now” and its celebration of “the beauty and surprises of imperfection.”
MM6 Maison Margiela joins an illustrious list of previous guest designers at Pitti Uomo, including Marine Serre, S.S. Daley, ERL’s Eli Russell Linnetz, Martine Rose, Grace Wales Bonner and Thebe Magugu. Another guest designer for the January show is Setchu, the brand founded and directed by Satoshi Kuwata.
MM6 Maison Margiela will also continue to participate in Milan Women’s Fashion Week.
