Miuccia Prada’s Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2025 collection, presented at the Palais d’Iena, explores a fascinating, if slightly unsettling, confluence of themes. The runway show, which featured a thought-provoking installation by Polish artist Goshka Macuga, left attendees pondering the nature of truth and individuality in our current age. Macuga’s newspaper “The Truthless Times,” with its cryptic headlines and strategically placed QR codes linking to philosophical essays such as Shumon Basar’s “Endcore,” served as the backdrop for Prada‘s latest sartorial offering.
The collection itself was a curious mix of seemingly disparate elements, ranging from childlike bloomers, petticoats and pinafores to more structured pieces like pleated skirts and boxy coats in vibrant ’70s prints. This juxtaposition of youthful innocence and mature sophistication created a sense of playful dissonance that reflected the complex and often contradictory nature of modern life. The styling reinforced this sense of disarray, with sweaters haphazardly tied around waists and garments left unbuttoned, suggesting a deliberate embrace of spontaneity and imperfection.
While some observers found the infantile elements of the collection bordering on disturbing, others saw it as a reflection of the current “anything goes” attitude, a sentiment echoed in Basar’s exploration of the “endcore” – a sense that established norms are dissolving, leaving us in a state of perpetual “after“.
The presence of celebrities such as Hilary Swank and Willem Dafoe added a touch of Hollywood glamour to the proceedings, further blurring the lines between high fashion and everyday reality.
