Michael Rider, Celine‘s newly appointed Artistic director, will make his debut with a fashion show in Paris on July 6 at 14:30 CET. The show is strategically positioned between Paris Fashion Week Men’s (June 24th-29th) and Haute Couture Week (July 7th-11th).
Rider, who began his tenure earlier this year, brings an impressive pedigree to Celine. A graduate of Brown University, he previously served as Creative director at Polo Ralph Lauren and spent a decade as Celine’s design director of ready-to-wear under former Creative director Phoebe Philo from 2008 to 2018. His experience also includes a stint as senior designer at Balenciaga from 2004 to 2008.
The upcoming show marks a return to the traditional runway format for Celine, which in recent years favored immaculate and transporting films by former Artistic director Hedi Slimane. Details remain under wraps, and it is not yet clear whether the show will feature womenswear, menswear or both.
Celine’s parent company, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, confirmed Rider’s appointment last October following the announcement of Slimane’s departure after a fruitful seven-year collaboration. Rider is now responsible for all of Celine‘s collections, including womenswear, menswear, leather goods, accessories and haute couture.
